Abilene Christian University Marriage and Family Institute

The mission of the marriage and Family Institute is to provide a clinical setting in which Marriage and Family Therapy interns can develop clinical skills and to serve the people of the greater Abilene area by offering individual, marriage and family therapy. Services are provided under the supervision of licensed marriage and family therapist and are provided on a sliding fee scale, depending upon clients' yearly income. New Horizons- Keeping Children First

New Horizons mission is to provide an environment where children, families and staff are able to heal and grow through caring relationships and unconditional love and acceptance. The S.T.A.R. Program and Family Connections are two of the programs offered by New Horizons. For more information about these programs.

 

Texas Family Institute

Texas Family Institute (TFI) is a 501(C) 3 nonprofit organization made up of professionally-trained, licensed counselors, marriage and family therapists, and social workers. We function harmoniously to help you meet the challenges that life brings to you in a better and more powerful way. 

 

Turning Point Counseling

Turning Point Counseling, LLC is made up of professionals with over 250 years of combined experience, serving clients in Abilene and the surrounding area. Callers are warmly greeted by the Turning Point Counseling staff and carefully matched with the therapist best equipped to address their specific needs. The therapists at Turning Point Counseling offer solutions for stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, relationship problems, and many other concerns. They provide individual, couple, or family counseling, as well as psychological testing.

The mission of the Ministry of Counseling and Enrichment is committed to bringing quality services to the people of the Big Country regardless of race, religion, or ability to pay.

 

Hardin Simmons University

As a service to our community and students, Hardin-Simmons University’s CACREP accredited graduate program in clinical counseling maintains a counseling clinic on campus in the historic Cowden-Paxton building.  Graduate students who have successfully completed the pre-clinical courses are able to work with clients under the supervision of fully-licensed doctoral level counselors.  *scroll to the bottom of the page and click “HSU Psychology and Counseling Center” for details and contact information.  

National Hotlines

National Hopeline Network(1.800.SUICIDE) brings the tremendous knowledge, skill and resources of existing crisis centers under the safety net of a single, easy-to-remember, toll-free number. People in crisis generally don't have the energy or ability to take on a long search for help. The Hopeline Network helps make appropriate, critical services available to all.

Texas Hotlines

Texas Youth Hotline - The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services initiated the Texas Youth Hotline. The Texas Youth Hotline and the agency's Texas Runaway Hotline are answered 24-hours a day and provide preventive services to callers who are in need of a caring voice and a listening ear.

Local Agencies

Noah Project (1.800.444.3551) is a center for victims of family violence. Their mission is advocating for victims and working to end family violence. If you or someone you know is being hurt by family violence, Noah Project can help.

Regional Crime Victims Crisis Center is a non-profit corporation serving victims of violent crime including sexual assault. 24/7 Hotline: 325-677-7895

 
 
We have partnered with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to offer dual credit classes. Starting in the 2021-2022 school year we will be offering the following pathways:

ASVAB

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery

TLCA will soon be offering the ASVAB Testfor all students in 10th, 11th and 12thgrades. Whether you are planning on COLLEGE, TECHNICAL SCHOOL, THE MILITARY, or you're just not sure yet, the ASVAB can put you on the right track for a satisfying career.  

ACT

The ACT is the college admissions exam used by colleges and universities in the west. This site provides help for students who are planning on taking the assessment. (It is also a very helpful site for parents.)

American Council on Education- College is Possible

American Council on Education- "College is Possible" This is an excellent site for checking out the important things high school students should know and do in order to make college a success.

College Board is the organization responsible for producing such widely known assessments as the SAT, PSAT and AP. The have also complied one of the most extensive Web sites dealing with college and career preparation on the Internet.

This is an assessement students will take to examine if they are "college ready". Students must take the TSIA2 in order to do any dual credit classes. This link will take you to study materials to be prepared for the test.
 
We are excited to dive into our new Career and Technical Education programs (CTE). As we continue to grow, and the interest of our students develop, we will be adding other CTE programs that are fitting for our students. 
 
Currently (2020-2021 school year) we offer Business Marketing and Sales.
