Food Services Information Update

Texas Leadership Families,

We would like to provide you with the first of a few changes happening in our Child Nutrition Department. The federal program that provided free meals to all students last year has expired, and so we will be moving back to using the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application for the 2022-2023 school year.

We have heard that Abilene ISD is providing free meals. They have qualified under a different federal program that we, unfortunately, do not qualify for at this time.

However, if your family qualifies for Medicaid Free, Medicaid Reduced, SNAP or TANF you may not need to fill out an application. The state sends us a monthly report of students that qualify under those programs for free or reduced-price meals. We have already begun the process of updating those student's benefits.

Letters will be sent to your email on July 22nd and July 29nd.

If you receive an email stating your students have qualified by direct certification, then you will not need to complete an application. If you do not receive an email, you will need to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application on our website. Applications will be available starting August 1, provided we receive the updated rates from the state.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. Stay tuned for a VERY EXCITING change we have made to the entire Child Nutrition Program. You don't want to miss it!

Thanks so much!
