COVID-19 Update for March 18th, 2020 from the desk of Superintendent, Ron Ledbetter

March 18th, 2020

Parents, Students, Staff -

Out of an abundance of caution and in response to the caution already exercised today by the Abilene school districts, we too will be continuing this school closure indefinitely. Should we get to a point that we believe a return to school can happen safely, we will give you plenty of notice to prepare.

Today, we rolled out an education plan for our teachers and students that can happen through multiple avenues. If they haven’t already, teachers will be contacting each family to share the necessary information you’ll need to help your students continue to be successful online and with other resources. Please do what you can to help them and lean on our teachers for help when needed. The teachers are learning some new things with this at-home education plan, so don’t panic if you don’t get anything today or tomorrow, guidance will be coming soon.

We urge you to keep yourselves and your students safe by adhering to social separation. The best plan to stop this virus is to practice the guidance that is given. Please stay at home as much as possible. Practice and teach your students the importance of washing hands and not socializing.

As we are given new or different guidance we will share that information with you. In the meantime, please learn as much as you can through the state and local health sites we’ve already shared.

This is not an easy decision for any school, but a necessary one, we believe, to keep your children and extended families safe. Please watch our website and social media outlets for updates.

Stay safe and God Bless,

Ron Ledbetter
